About this deal

If you are under 16, please obtain your parent/guardian’s permission before submitting or ask your parent/guardian to submit on your behalf. Upon hearing the news, his father reacts rather badly, forcing David to take refuge in his room to avoid the commotion.

The letter Jeffrey’s parents received describes Groosham Grange as the perfect college for their son, but this time around it is explains that the school is akin to a military training camp. I'm in The List's 2022 Hot 100 and The Bookseller's 2022 Top 150 influential people in UK publishing. These similarities include having both central characters being mistreated by their parental figures who receive an unexpected letter from an isolated gothic boarding school which reveals itself as a school for wizards and witches; having a teacher who is a ghost and a werewolf character named after the French word for "wolf" ( Lupin/Leloup); and passage to the school via railway train.Es un libro para niños, sobre una escuela especial, para niños especiales y sí, fue antes de Harry Potter. In fact I wrote my first book when I was ten, stuck in a miserable, north London boarding school where reading and telling stories were my only lifeline.

They only get one day of vacation a year, and he and his two friends immediately start to become suspicious about the staff and other strange events.

I always looked forward to Fridays when the teacher was reading us from this book, but now I couldn't wait to finish it. It introduces a detective by the name of Daniel Hawthorne - a rather dark and dangerous man whom I actually met on the set of Injustice.

It is based around a school which will allow children to relate to it easily, therefore engaging their attention. Everything about this book is heightened – including the ‘choice’ of taking a blade to the heart or accepting the ring and joining the school. However, on all attempts they failed and on their 13th birthdays, they were converted to the magical side at Groosham Grange. As the three children are talking about their new boarding school, a vicar enters their compartment.New pupils are made to sign their names in blood; the French teacher disappears every full moon; and the assistant headmaster keeps something very chilling in his room. The ship's captain, Captain Bloodbath, ferries them to Skrull Island (a parody of Skull Island), which is where Groosham Grange is located. While the murders that were deemed ‘necessary’ for the continued existence of the school sit uneasily in my adult mind, it’s clear they were plot devices for ramping up the tension. De camino a la escuela, David conoce a Julia y a Jeffrey, dos niños que también fueron aceptados en la Granja Groosham. At least, that's my version of events and that's what counts here because, very unusually, I actually appear in the book as his not entirely successful sidekick; the Watson to his Holmes.
