The real-world principle applies to the envelopes too, in what must be one of the best implementations I've seen in years. illuminated Encoders and a large OLED Screen provide adequate access to all parameters and an optimal overview. It took about a week to realize that the synth wasn't designed to be fully understandable by simply applying insights from other synths to this one.

As you’d expect from a wavetable synth, the Hydrasynth is at its best with long, evolving pads, thanks to the wavescanning and plethora of modulation options. If it had a premium keybed and a more powerful internal DSP that allowed them to fix most of the issues, it would have started much more expensive than it did. It's a "wave shaping" synth, yet I end up using the VA base waveforms way more than the weird wave tables. Right now it still sounds a bit too mid-rangey for my taste, and I find it often sounds better to just use the drive parameter, but I spend a lot of time tweaking the drive versus the resonance.Obviously you’re an analog purist and you want everything to be like old 1-knob per function fixed architecture synths and anything that isn’t is just a Virtual Studio Technology Instrument inside of a box. In this way, consumers give each other guidance and give us the opportunity to continuously improve. To understand some of the excitement, it's worth stepping back and pondering what makes polyphonic aftertouch so enduringly fascinating. Yes, it has poly aftertouch and that's super fun, but I'm afraid to break the damn thing when I use it.

Linear FM is, on the surface, basic two-operator FM with feedback, but you aren't restricted to the built-in sine or triangle waves — you can choose any oscillator, the ring mod or noise as source. If you are approved for a credit limit with PayPal Credit and use it for future purchases, the APR for those purchases wont be more than 23. In full eight voice mode, the analog and digital filters could be run in series or parallel for 8 voice mono (but into stereo fx), OR, digital and analog filter panned left and right for 8 voice stereo (into stereo fx). I kind of agree with your UI comments, but my biggest issue with my HS is not the UI, it is simply justifiying another pretty-good synth in my room. The LFO's all have delay, fade in, 3 triggering modes, smoothing, start phase, one-shot mode so that they can act as envelopes and BPM sync. The Korg 707 and DS-8 definitely mix all the voices digitally, just like the FB01, DX100, DX27 and DX21. I did not know how the bread-and-butter sounds were going to be as I create music and don't have much time for sound design. Without knowing that the eight mini-displays are macro-controls when you play a present, but that as soon as you hit a dedicated module button to change a parameter, that you've left macro mode for edit mode, well, a lot of confusion can arise. Trying to design a bread-and-butter patch on this synth can take many times longer than on a straightforward VA synth like a Nord or DSI/Sequential.

But not only are these beautiful, sturdy, durable feeling pads, velocity and aftertouch sensitivity on them is top notch. Almost everything in the synth engine can be a modulation destination including the effects and arpeggiator. Clearly you don't want to lose all the panning stuff the synth can do, which requires stereo filters, but that's costly. Before moving on, it's worth mentioning that the ring modulator can make use of any oscillator, Mutator, Mod input or noise (white, pink or brown). The keyboard model has a ribbon controller running almost its full length, and on both versions, every knob, button and encoder feels solid and trustworthy.
