About this deal

Added the ability to choose whether 48V is retained after restarting Scarlett 3rd Generation interfaces.

With the Scarlett 8i6 3rd gen USB audio interface’s two high-headroom instrument inputs you can get fantastic recordings of electric guitar or bass without any unwanted distortion or clipping. For users of macOS 11 Big Sur or later, you can find our support information for Intel and Apple silicon Macs here. For information on connecting our bus powered interfaces (Scarlett Solo, 2i2, 4i4), please refer to one of the following articles, depending on the type of iPad you intend to use the device with. Plug in and produce. All your instruments, all the time. 8i6 is studio sound for all your hardware. To use the Direct Monitoring feature of the interface and hear your inputs before they pass through the software on your iPad, you will need to select "Custom Mix" for each physical output you have your speakers or headphones connected to. Although not officially supported or tested, due to the above devices being class compliant, we expect them to work with an iPad*. To connect the interfaces to an iPad, you will need an Apple Camera Connection Kit. Please note you will still need to use the power supply unit that came with your interface, you will not be able to bus-power the interface from the iPad. One welcome difference is the new headphone amps, which drive significantly louder (and clearer) than previous generations.

If you're connecting a guitar/bass to one of the first two inputs on the interface, you need to select the Instrument circuit rather than the Line circuit. This can be done at the bottom of Scarlett Mix Control (or on the front panel of the 18i20). The service will not quit and will remain in Activity Monitor, your interface should now be detected in Focusrite Control. If your i nterface is showing correctly in the System report, but Focusrite Control still displays No Hardware Connected, please complete the following instructions:

Hittin’ the third generation

You will need to configure Scarlett Mix Control/Focusrite Control and then save those settings to the interface because the settings cannot be changed while the unit is connected to the iPad. Scarlett Mix Control/Focusrite Control dictates which audio signals get routed to each output on the interface. The below steps show you an example of how you may wish to route the audio on your interface. If you are a user of a; Clarett Thunderbolt, Saffire or Red interface, on macOS 10.13+ please see the following article in addition to the below steps:

What’s more; you also get a free 3-month subscription to Splice Sounds when you create a new Splice account. If you are not able to see your Focusrite interface in Focusrite Control , you may see one of two error messages :While the Scarlett 8i6 will fit in great at your home studio allowing you to get great results, the level at which it performs and the potential it gives you goes far beyond what you’d expect for home recording.
