About this deal

These are some of the boldest and brightest colours in the Contrast range. They’re perfect for creating vivid finishes and striking effects. Who knows what arcane elements our paint technicians mixed up to get such vibrancy? Frog lady is the best. She is absolutely covered in characterful detail! I really enjoyed painting up her amphibian buds. This is about what you would expect from a modern Forge World kit, though I did need to break out the fine grit sandpaper on one of her legs. Boa Kon’ssstriktr James created a spectacular feathered rainbow on his Lord of Change by thinning his Contrast paints right down to a glaze consistency with Contrast Medium . Then he applied lots of thin layers onto his Greater Daemon, slightly overlapping layers of Celestium Blue , Dreadful Visage , Sigvald Burgundy , Karandras Green , and more to retain vibrant paint colours while building up a smooth, ‘wet blend’ gradient between each hue. Daniel Veress Tacticals - not the best place for my hydran examplar, held ground and advanced well - they're called Taxticals for a reason, right? A rhino would have helped get them up table fast. I’ve started painting these models in groups of two. I feel like this still lets me focus on each one without getting too worn out with a large group. You can base your model how you want. As you can see, I did a rather elaborate jungle base for mine, which I’ve covered over on Mengel Miniatures.

These were then shaded with Reikland Fleshshade. You want to make sure you’re using the new formula from GW to get the same effect and result as mine. So there you have it, pro-tips from one of our pro-painters! That’s just 10 of the 25 new Contrast paints – we’ve already had ideas for coruscating bolts of energy with Mantis Warrior Green and some filthy underhive terrain with Garaghak’s Sewer. The possibilities are truly endless! The Citadel Colour experts have spent many months researching, developing, testing – and painting! – with our Shade range to find out how to make them even better than they already are. The result of all of this hard work is a total reformulation of all of the Shade paints you know and love – and the creation of seven new Shades. Emma: It’s so yellow! Bad Moon Yellow covers really well all over for a clean, sharp yellow that’s super bright. It’s great on armour panels for Bad Moons – of course – and Ironjawz! Emma: Gutrippa Flesh is terrific and will save a lot of time when painting Kruleboyz or Gretchin as it gives an excellent base colour and shade that suits these boyz down to the ground. It’s really great for camo cloth too!

Steve layered Briar Queen Chill and the newly improved Nuln Oil over a bright Stormhost Silver basecoat for a metallic Contrast tint – to give his Sisters of Silence armour with a cool tone and a steely appearance. Emma Robinson These were fun to paint up, with plenty of fun details. The only issue I ran into painting was that the shoulder pad trim was actually too small for me to follow with my ever-so-slight hand shakes – but otherwise it was a blast. I started from a zenithal highlight and used Kroxigor Scales for the Armor, Wyldwood highlighted with Baneblade brown for straps, Scale Necro Gold, and the new Soulblight Grey wash to cheat some definition out of the tunics. Estelle le Veneaux Worse still, at times the smaller race fights alongside Troll-sized reptile-men, hulking beasts that can tear a man in two. With their two-handed mauls I am sure such beasts could stove in the side of a ship within a few blows." The salamanders herded by Sun Acolytes born under the blessing of Chotec are a unique element among the Seraphon. These creatures are essentially living artillery, belching flaming globs of corrosive saliva across the battlefield to weaken the armour and broil the flesh of their enemies.* Next is my vows for the Bug's Life painting challenge, but in terms of Alphas, I'd like to get my volkite support squad done, but I also really need to get another troop and a HQ done. I've converted up a Vigilator, which you'll see below, who'll be good for small games, however I'm thinking of converting up a Delegatus also, or trying to get my hands on Skorr to give me Pride of the Legion, and use my other veteran squad.

Need to paint some solid Space Marine armour? Hues like Baal Red and Bad Moon Yellow will make short work of saturated ceramite for any Chapter. Or, if you’ve got your eyes on a Hedonites of Slaanesh war host, Doomfire Magenta will give you the luxurious robes you need to satiate the Lord of Pleasure himself. Astra Militarum: The Astra Militarum, also known as the Imperial Guard, are the primary human fighting force in the Warhammer 40K universe. These models often wear camouflaged uniforms and carry various guns and tanks. While Kroxigor Scales may not be an obvious choice for this army, it can be used to create an interesting contrast when painting textured parts of tanks and machinery. Together with the new Contrast paints and reformulated shades, you’ll find it easier than ever to achieve the results you want and make your miniatures pop on the battlefield. White Scar is designed specifically for use with Contrast paints, to sit alongside the cool Grey Seer and the warmer Wraithbone sprays. There’s nothing stopping you from using it with our regular Citadel range, however. It’s great for creating punchier colours from a brighter undercoat – you can even try using our reformulated Shades on it for bold new results.

Paint makes Warhammer, and gorgeous miniatures are a key part of the Warhammer hobby. There’s nothing better than two epic-looking armies facing off on the battlefield, and we all take great enjoyment in sharing our proudest paint jobs on the internet. To help you keep creating incredible armies and jaw-dropping models, Citadel Colour are massively expanding the Contrast range, improving the range of amazing Shade paints, and creating the smoothest and brightest ever white spray – the best just got better. The Adeptus Mechanicus have a variety of textures in their models, including some scaly and reptilian parts, providing an opportunity to use Kroxigor Scales to create an interesting contrast. Finally, Astra Militarum models can be painted with a variety of colors and textures, and Kroxigor Scales can be used to create an unexpected but visually interesting color scheme. Kroxigor Scales Colour Schemes & Combinations

The decision to suggest these colors was based on color theory and balancing the colors in a color combo: This purple is the primary colour representing the Old One Tepok,* so you can see purple tones and hues across the celestite found in weapons and accessories wielded by the Seraphon, and also in the shading and glazing on the gold medals. Counter to that, you can see red come across in spawnings blessed by Sotek, the most warlike of the Old Ones. These colours appear in the head markings and skink handprints on the Kroxigor Warspawned. Launched in 2019, the Contrast range revolutionised miniatures painting. Now, the new colours span the entire spectrum, from eye-searing emeralds and yellows, to fiery reds and bold blues. We’re really spoilt for choice! To give us a hand exploring the new range, we asked Warhammer TV painting presenter Emma Robinson to provide us with ideas for using some of the new colours. Iyanden Yellow and Nazdreg Yellow were a dream for painters when they first dropped – easy-to-achieve yellows in one coat! Bad Moon Yellow provides an even brighter choice, especially over a White Scar undercoat. Our paint scientists haven’t stopped there. White Scar is our best ever white spray paint. It applies smoothly and with absolutely no fuss, giving you the perfect foundation for painting dazzling colours – and it works particularly well with our most vibrant new Contrast paints. You’ll be able to get your first taste of the new Seraphon with an army set, which contains a Slaan Starmaster, 10 Saurus Warriors, five Raptadon Chargers and five Raptadon Hunters – though you could build two units of either variety! Not every miniature needs to be blindingly bright on the tabletop. A rich and easy-to-apply colour is the perfect accompaniment to help the vibrant models in your army stand out even more. These paints will give you reliable and resplendent results with no fuss – ideal for the core colour of an army.
